Our courses provide important learning outcomes that can be mapped to NVQs and City & Guilds accreditation within the health and social care sector:
- Dispel myths and misconceptions the epilepsies.
- Describe the main causes of epilepsy and triggers of seizures.
- Understand the vulnerability to the epilepsies in adults with learning difficulties.
- Discuss the different types of seizure.
- Describe the importance of anti – epileptic drugs and possible side – effects.
- Competently manage all seizures with dignity including status epilepticus in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.
- Explain the importance of keeping accurate records in relation to epilepsy.
- Describe the social, psychological and economic impact of epilepsy on the individual, family members and carers and suggest ways of overcoming the negative aspects of the condition.
- Identify ways to ensure a safe environment and minimise risk associated with seizures
- Explain ways to enable individuals with epilepsy to self manage their condition.
